OK it's my day off from work user posted image so I've got some time to dig into the archives to see if I can find something interesting relating to the EM field.

I'm sorry DarmonVing but I've not read about the Montauk-project. Do you have any good links where I could start reading? Or could you just give me some cliff-notes... heh... smileNew4.gif

Anyway. Interesting that it can affect the human brain.

ll biological cycles are directly related to the planet's magnetic field (which averages about 1/2 gauss, with a daily change in strength of less than 0.1 gauss - compared to a refrigerator door magnet at 200 gauss strength).  All living organisms have the ability to sense these daily minute cycles in the Earth's magnetic field and use them to time their respective biological cycles. E.g. bacterium contains a chain of tiny magnets - crystals of natural mineral magnetite (lodestone), which are used to orient themselves to the natural field.  Migrating birds' brains are fitted with a magnetic sensing system which uses lines of the Earth's magnetic field.  Our pineal gland is (aside from its ability to measure natural light for regulatory purposes) sensitive to the Earth's daily magnetic field cyclic pattern, and from that derived "clock" information produces our necessary melatonin, serotonin, dopamine and other active chemical substances to instruct all the other glands in the body.  Magnetic storms (triggered by solar flares) can affect the pineal's ability to manufacture/release its chemical instructions, with both physical and psychological results.

Similarly, other man-made 'storms' in the electromagnetic field (telecommunication signals, microwaves, motor field pulses) can influence the pineal's action.  Nature intended the pineal to simultaneously receive the same signals from the daily pattern of day-night and the same rise and fall in the geomagnetic field.  When one or both signals are abnormal, the pineal will respond abnormally.  Micro pulsations in the 10 Hz (10 cycles per second) frequency are both the planet's key field frequency (0 - 30 Hz) and that used by biological electro-sensing systems (also the major component in EEG/MEG frequencies).

18.07.2004: Something weird is going on below us

Satellites in low-Earth orbit over Southern Africa are already showing signs of radiation damage
http://www.sundaytimes.co.za/2004/07/18/news/news14.asp

SOUTHERN Africa is experiencing weird vibes, according to scientists studying one of the more profound upheavals awaiting planet Earth.

This forthcoming revolution is a reversal in the Earth's magnetic field, an event that occurs every 500 000 years or so.

Signs that the reversal is about to happen again are nowhere more apparent than over Southern Africa, according to Dr Pieter Kotze, head of the geomagnetism group at the Hermanus Magnetic Observatory in the southern Cape.

Satellites in low-Earth orbit over Southern Africa are already showing signs of radiation damage suffered as a result of the Earth's magnetic field weakening above our part of the planet. The field forms the magneto sphere, which, like the Earth's ozone layer, protects the planet from the sun's harmful radiation.

Other symptoms destined to become apparent in the years ahead include the aurora australis, or southern lights. Usually seen only over the South Pole, these will become visible closer to the equator as the Earth's magnetic field weakens and disappears. Eventually, on past form, the field will reappear but with magnetic north and south pole changing places, as they have done for billions of years.

According to an article in the New York Times this week, the change will be devastating for migratory animals such as loggerhead turtles, which use the Earth's magnetic field to migrate 8 000km around the Atlantic. Bees, swallows, cranes, salmon, homing pigeons, frogs and eagles may also lose their way between breeding and feeding grounds.

Humans will suffer, too. The (temporary) disappearance of the magnetic field ahead of its reversal will lead to increased occurrences of radiation-induced cancer, Kotze said.

Commenting on the New York Times report, Kotze said that the decay in the Earth's magnetic field was becoming increasingly apparent in "the South Atlantic anomaly", a huge deviation in the Earth's magnetic field discovered with the help of the Hermanus Magnetic Observatory.

This month, the European Space Agency (ESA) approved a multimillion-euro space mission, called Swarm, to measure the anomaly, which stretches from Southern Africa towards South America.

The ESA's scientists believe that this anomaly, as revealed by the occasional "geomagnetic jerk" to which our part of the world is prone, will provide a clue to predicting the next "flip" in the Earth's magnetic field, now 250 000 years overdue - as these things go. Three ESA satellites, flying in low-Earth orbit (400km to 500km up) after their launch in 2009, will measure the variation over Southern Africa.

The observatory has also recorded a faster-growing deviation between true north and magnetic north over Southern Africa during the past 10 years, drifting steadily westward. Taken together, the blip and this drift point to an imminent reversal in the Earth's north-south magnetic alignment.

"W e should be able to work out the first predictions by the end of the [Swarm] mission," Gauthier Hulot, an ESA geophysicist and a colleague of Kotze's, told the New York Times.

The discovery of the "anomalous field behaviour over Southern Africa" drew wide attention, reported the US newspaper, because "it seemed consistent with what the [ESA's] computer simulations identified as the possible beginnings of a flip".

Kotze said that, "these are all indications that we have conditions similar to the last reversal, 780 000 years ago. So it means that we are due for another one soon." In geological terms, however, "soon" could mean anytime between tomorrow and the next 3 000 years.

Kotze said the anomaly was the result of "things happening" far below the Earth's surface.

At the boundary between the mantle and the outer core (more than 3 000km below Southern Africa) disruptions were occurring in the flow of the Earth's liquid outer core (mostly iron), he explained. This created "a reverse dynamo situation", which is becoming increasingly apparent as variations in the magnetic field above the Earth's surface.

There was an interesting discussion about this at GLP that summer, but I don't know if it's still in the archives. I haven't been to that place since I got this new computer up and going... face.gif

About whale- and Dolphin stranding

First an interesting statistic from someone who is follwing this very close

This statistic include stranded whales, seals, dolphins and turtles.
It's really an increasing "fenomen"!

And an interesting article regarding the cause of stranding in the North Sea, which seem to be higher when solar activity is high:
QUOTE
13 05 2005: Whales 'led astray by magnetism
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4538959.stm
Increased solar activity causing disturbances in the Earth's magnetic field may cause whales to run aground in the North Sea, say researchers.
Analysis of whales stranded between 1712 and 2003 shows that more are stranded when solar activity is high.
Writing in the Journal of Sea Research, scientists propose that whales use the Earth's magnetic field to assist navigation like homing pigeons do. As the Sun disrupts the magnetic field whales can become confused, they say.
-snip-
The numbers of cetacean - whale, dolphin and porpoise - strandings around the UK have doubled over the last 10 years.
Marine mammal experts say an increase in fishing activity, which leads to more "by-catch", is a major cause of the problem. Campaigners also claim increased noise in the oceans, coming from ships' engines and sonar, is a significant factor in whales losing their way.

Hundreds of birds die in Kapilvastu

Nepaleyes Report
Butwal, March 29

Hundreds of wild birds including crows and doves have died at a village of Kapilvastu district in western Nepal over the past few days. Locals fear it could be a bird flu epidemic.

"Birds were found dead at jungle and farmed areas over the past three days," said Nityananda Poudel, a local resident. "Jackals and dogs are feeding on them, which is making us more anxious."

District Vet Office said it was investigating the cause behind the death of wild birds at Dabara village of Buddhi VDC in Kapilvastu district.

It was not in a position to confirm or rule out the possibility of avian influenza.

Hundreds of wild and domesticated birds had died in far-western district of Kailali and eastern district of Saptari a few days back. However, the concerned authorities have not confirmed a single case of bird flu in Nepal.

One more thing before I forget... I saw a flock of birds acting really strange today. They divided into two groups and one group landed in a tree and the other landed on a communications tower. This is the second or third time time that I've seen it happen. There's got to be something making the birds act so oddly. Could they be under someone's control?

Razor-thin birds wash up on shore
Hundreds of dead auklets found on Oregon coast

By ROBERT McCLURE
P-I REPORTER

Once again, things are starting to look weird along the West Coast.

A rash of bird deaths has scientists wondering if they're seeing a repeat of last year, when they were alarmed by throngs of dead birds washing up on beaches, underfed whales and the failure of Washington's largest seabird-nesting colony, among other developments.

Like last year, scientists say, this year's bird deaths appear related to changes in the marine food web that they still don't understand but that look as if they are related to unusual weather.

The dead birds are being tested for toxins, bird flu and other diseases. But many are so scrawny that researchers say it's virtually a foregone conclusion that they starved to death.

"You've got skin and little more over the breastbone," said Bob Loeffel, a biologist who has scoured one stretch of Oregon beach for 28 years. "They're thin. Razor-thin."

Dead birds have been turning up along the Pacific coast from the Columbia River south to about Newport, Ore., and in British Columbia.

The birds dying in unusually high numbers in Oregon are rhinoceros auklets, a fish-eating bird a little smaller than a crow. Before this year, Loeffel had never found more than 13 of them in March on the 4.6-mile stretch of beach he monitors. This year it will easily exceed 100, he said. His is the longest-running study of dead birds on the Northwest coast.

Hundreds of other auklets have been found up and down the Oregon coast.

"We've seen a dramatic rise in the number of rhino auklets washing up on the beaches," said Julia Parrish, a University of Washington professor who oversees a network of Northwest beach observers called the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team. "One thing that's given us pause is waiting to see if this is a several-week event, or is this going to go on longer?"

For now, she said, it appears restricted in the United States to the Oregon coast.

In Canada, the confirmed deaths have been among Cassin's auklets, and they mostly occurred from late December to early February. It's not uncommon for juveniles to die, but this time adults were found dead.

"We believe they starved to death, but we really don't know the linkages here, whether it's related to what we saw last summer," said Robert Elner, chief of migratory bird conservation for the Canadian Wildlife Service. "There's something happening. ... We've got signals that there's something amiss."

Researchers are convinced that much of what they saw in 2005 was related to an interruption of the normal spring weather patterns, with overly warm, nutrition-poor ocean water hanging around when cold, food-filled ocean water normally moves in. They say it's easy to see why that happened: Wind that usually kicks up this time of year failed to do so.

But they don't know why the wind didn't blow.

Could this year's wave of deaths be bird flu? Lab tests could show that, but "it's highly, highly unlikely," said the UW's Parrish.

Cassin's auklets begin to congregate along the coast in preparation for breeding early in the year, before the rhino auklets, Parrish said. Then, in March, the rhino auklets do the same thing. It's usual to see some of them die, but perhaps 10 times as many as normal are washing up this year.

"It seems like some combination of weather and local food shortage," she said. "That is potentially why whatever happened didn't affect other species: They weren't here."

One possibility is that the birds didn't get as much food as normal last summer, then had to weather a relatively cold and rainy winter and died because their fat reserves were exhausted earlier than usual, Parrish said.

There are some reasons to think that this year will be better. For instance, in the Farallon Islands off San Francisco, where birds showed up late to breed in 2005 and later abandoned their nests, they seem to be back to their normal pattern, Parrish said.

Dave Mackas, a biologist with the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans, noted that the warmer-than-usual ocean conditions started around 2002 and appeared to peak last year. The Oregon coast and ocean were hardest hit, with lesser effects stretching to the north and south, he said.

"My bet is 2006 won't be as bad as 2005," Mackas said. "But it doesn't mean we won't see another 2005 down the line if the ocean gets warmer."...

Warming oceans will have more effects than reduction in bio-mass. Changes in ocean temperatures will result in changes in ocean thermal stratification. Whenever there is a rapid change in temperature in a liquid, the liquid will exhibit mirror-like properties at the temperature boundaries. ( This is the cause of mirages in the desert.) Layering in the oceans can cause sound waves to bounce off the layer boundary rather than penetrating to depth. Submarines use this effect to "hide" from searching sonar by going under thermal layer boundaries.

If the location in which stratification occurs changes, then this could be the cause of cetacean strandings because they might be getting their echo location signal returns deflected instead of bouncing off undersea way points.

It's so sad that some species must starve to death while another species gorge themselves into morbid obesity believing that the Earth is their very own all-you-can-eat buffet.

All of the problems of mankind's making are directly attributable to capitalism's eternal demand for ever-increasing markets, ever-increasing profits and ever-increasing use of resources on a finite planet.

Only when Western mankind shakes off the religion of self will the social, moral and environmental insults be addressed. Knowing the stupidity of mankind as we do, there will be no worthwhile action until it is too late. No amount of environmental vandalism, species annihilation or third world mass-starvation will have any effect. It is only when thirst and starvation starts to bite in the western world that any action will be taken. Seeing as how the momentum of the capitalist juggernaut will take generations to bring to a stop, it is already too late for the planet, billions of people and hundreds of billions of animals.

Shame, mankind, shame! Double shame on those whose minds are so weak that they cannot see through the capitalist propaganda. I can only hope that they are among the first to suffer.

We really are a stupid species and deserve to be erased from the planet so that evolution can generate another intelligent species who might do a better job.

Exactly, but by then it will be too late for many.

We're not all stupid... we must remember, we were IGNORANT because we ONLY knew what THEY taught us in THEIR skoolz and what THEY fed us in THEIR newspapers, magazines, tv, movies and entertainment.
(Not to mention the laughable political processes of smoke and mirrors)

Imagine, if from the day we were old enough to understand language that we were taught about protecting the environment and conserving resources instead of being taught about Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy or some invisible bearded old white man in the sky.

When you understand who and what rules the world can you better understand the situation we are in today as THEY have molded/brainwashed the minds of hundreds and hundreds of millions of people.

But change is upon us... it is slow.... and then it will speed up after the masses are faced with severe hardships.

Only after suffering will there will positive changes for the Earth.

The masses will need to be rudely awoken from their drug and technologically induced mind controlling slumber.
